The book provides the reader with an understanding of the legal and policy framework of adult care services and is designed to accompany Social Care and the Law: An NVQ Related Reference Guide.
The publication is essential reading for candidates on the Leadership and Management for Care Services Award. It will also be useful to social work students and Post Qualifying Award candidates.
The first section of the book explores Government structures and systems of National social policy development. A directory of Government departments and non-departmental public bodies is provided with website details etc. The European dimension to the social policy landscape is also covered.
Subsequent sections cover particular social policy areas, putting key Government agendas into context.
The final section demonstrates the holistic (or eclectic) aspect of social policy initiatives and summarises some of the current key Government agendas including the personalisation agenda, the professionalisation agenda, the modernisation agenda and the respect and dignity agenda.
